Marriage in the Holy Quran

The Prophet ﷺ said: "There is nothing like marriage for two who love each other."  The Holy Quran, the sacred text of Islam, contains numerous verses that address marriage, the rights and responsibilities of spouses, as well as the moral and spiritual teachings related to marital life. Here are some verses associated with marriage in the Quran:

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Surah Ar-Rum (The Romans), Verse 21 :

وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُم مَّوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

"And among His signs He has created wives for you, so that you may live peacefully with them, and He has placed affection and kindness among you. In this there is evidence for people who think."
 

Qur'an 30:187

Surah Al-Baqara (The Cow), Verse 187 :

 هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَهُنَّ

“They are a clothing for you and you are a clothing for them.”

Qur'an 2:187

Surat Al-A'raf, Verse 189 :

 هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَجَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا لِيَسْكُنَ إِلَيْهَا فَلَمَّا

"It is He who created you from a single soul and made from it its mate to find tranquility with it."


Qur'an 7:189

عن رسول الله ﷺ قال : من تزوّج فقد احرز نصف دينه فليَـتَّــقِ الله في النصف الباقي

On the authority of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him, he said :
«Whoever gets married has achieved half of his religion, so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half.»

عن رسول الله ﷺ قال :  ما بني بناءً في الاسلام احبّ الى الله من التزويج

On the authority of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ peace and blessings be upon him, he said :
«There is no institution in Islam, which is more than Allah’s goal for marriage.»
